Faith
What does Faith have to do with Karate? Maybe everything.
The moment you start to practice karate someone or something
has inspired you to learn and become skillful. You believe you can become
skillful in the performance of karate skills. That moment faith
,small a it is, kicks in and becomes a part of you related to karate.
One small success (learning basic punch) leads to
becoming a great puncher or not. Knowledge is growing and faith in
that small step is not needed because you know of a certainty that you
can do a basic karate punch.
Faith is a principle of power that drives beyond that which we can realize and fully understand at first.
Realization and understanding can come as a result of setting goals. The goals should have incremental steps.
- Find a competent Instructor.
- Be certain that the instructor cares about students.
- Agree to follow instructions.
- Commit to a period of time.
- Set goals related to skill and personal development.
Goals:
Learn basic hand techniques.
- Punch
- Downward block
- Inside Middle block
- Outside Middle Block
- Rising Block
- Knife Hand Block
Learn basic Kicking techniques.
- Front Kick
- Back Kick
- Round Kick (front kick on different plane)
- Side Kick (back kick on different plane)
- Advanced kicks use basic kicks in variation.
At the beginning toward your first goal, there will be very little understanding or realization of faith related to your goal. If someone has taught you, you may trust what they have told you. There are beliefs that trust, and faith are the same. You decide but understanding faith followed by consistent Intelligent work will result in magnificent growth.
Faith is a force to be reckoned with in all aspects of our existence. It is infinite and eternal.
As we begin to realize that infinite and eternal faith allows all that positive in our lives to be accomplished. As we implement the principle in all that we do, we begin to approach greatness. It would be wonderful if educational systems would understand the power of faith and teach their students correct principles rather than teach to the test and meet the demands of a schedule. Please excuse the diversion, it will be addressed in another post.
