The Shitei Kata, which literally translates to ‘specified form’, denotes a certain, specified, standard kata that every contestant in an officially sanctioned WKF/JKF tournament – no matter where in the world – needs to perform in the opening round (s) to qualify for the rest of the tournament. The requirement has been enthusiastically changed and dropped. Traditionalists are not excited about a change that loses what was. Change for good or evil faces resistance.
It is amazing and exciting that Karate Students have all the Kata information available. In the past, arduous effort was required to get information about kata and other karate information. Most karate people were under the illusion that their “Way” was undeniably best. Many are resistant to share thinking that other karate people may possess an advantage should they have their knowledge. Presently, unbelievable amounts can be found via the internet. One Example I just entered karate via the internet.
Entering karate via the internet leads anyone to vast amounts of information. That leaves the difficulty to understand how to choose which internet sites are offering good information compared to great information. Consequently, without karate knowledge, a significant challenge. that becomes Overtime
