Karate Triple Kicking

Bill Wallace is known for great kicking therefore he spent time to develop flexibility Consequently, his skills required a tremendous amount of time, desire and expenditure of energy. Bill on Karate Brand page.

From all I know he (Bill Wallace) was a great karate fighter.  He was always ready to share exactly what he did to develop his kicking skills.  His training programs were not easy, but to be the best or even close to the best requires motivation,  effort (work), desire and discipline.

Desire is greater than discipline, but discipline is still an important ingredient in the pathway to greatness.

One great example and a true story Captain Cox had scores of interruptions to his sleep. “How could you do that?” I asked him. His answer shows the power of an overriding desire.

“I knew that if we ever got home, I would be meeting the parents of those boys on the streets in our small town, and I didn’t want to face any of them if their son didn’t make it home because of anything I failed to do as his commander.”1

As stated, earlier Desire is greater than discipline, but discipline is still an important ingredient in the pathway to greatness. Even greater than that is the fact that as I have stated Bill was willing to share the way he developed the skills. I think he was having fun and although he knew he was very great at Triple Kicking, He appears to approach everything in an attitude of humility.  The attitude of humility is part of what made him a great teacher.

Powerful Karate – Side Kick requires and understanding of body mechanics.

Powerful Karate – Side Kick is essentially a back kick. The pivoting of the foot timed correctly will place the body in a position that makes what is called a side kick. There is a side kick referred to as a side snap kick. The Snap Kick does not have the power of the Side/Back Kick. There needs to be a way to perform the side kick using natural body movement/s. If you are putting unnatural stress upon your body, you would be wise to change. Ando Mierzwa demonstrates 3 ways to make side kick more powerful. He appears to use good body mechanics. As a result, the tips he stresses will reduce or eliminate pain/discomfort and help eliminate poor body mechanics. Let’s take a look. Notice his kind, intelligent approach. I do not know him personally, but he seems like reasonably kind and intelligent person.

The 3 tips are good information should you desire to improve your delivery of your side kicks. Prior to getting into the tips it is stressed, you should be comfortable with what is happening in your mind and body.

Tip number 1: pivot your support foot. Without pivoting your support foot. you limit the height at which you can effectively execute the kick as a Powerful Karate – Side Kick. The higher you desire to kick the more you need pivot the support foot. This, in turn, positions the body and primarily the leg and foot of the kicking side. Those actions position the body to execute the higher kicks. This requires a good use of body mechanics. The better your understanding of body mechanics and proper execution of your kicks good things happen. You can kick smoothly, skillfully, higher and more powerfully. I think we have fulfilled our objective related to our immediate purpose.

Tip number 2: kick with your heel rather than the blade or side of foot. The possibility of injury to your foot, knee and hip are reduced. The penetration into the target let increase and the force will increase substantially using the heel as the striking weapon.

Tip number 3: get your butt in line.

Tip number 4: Practice what you have learned. Practice, Practice, Practice and Practice some more. Practice does not make perfect. Only consistent Perfect Practice makes PERFECT.
